OWWA to discuss OFW concerns through regional consultation

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will hold a Regional Consultation of OFWs and Their Families on May 13, 2011 at the Microtel in Pasay City to be attended by Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), OFW Family Circles (OFCs), Government Financial Institutions and other major stakeholders of the migrant workers sector.

The Regional Consultation aims to identify the views, needs and aspirations of the OFWs and their families to help design a national program development and policy direction that would foster the growth of the OFW sectors and help in the development of new programs and services that would respond to the present economic conditions as well as challenges and trends in overseas employment. Over-all, the regional consultation will map out strategies and/or policies that would address the needs of OFWs and their families in the country and overseas.

To be hosted by the Regional Welfare Office – National Capital Region, the Regional Consultation will serve as preliminary activity to a much bigger National Congress of OFWs and their Families on June 7, 2011 which coincides with the Migrant Workers Day.
